The permanent extension was opened and called the Dodson Room on 4th October 1986.
A new £10,000 extension to the 1st Markfield Scouts Bowmar headquarters was officially opened by the County Commissioner, Mr. Noel Freer.
Officials are delighted with the new two-room building, next to the old headquarters in Main Street, Markfield.
Funding was helped by a grant from Leicestershire County Council of £7,500 and the rest was raised by the scouts who organised jumble sales and coffee mornings during the past three years.
Also present at the opening was Mr Ray Saunders, District Commissioner, Mr David Radford, Chairman of leicestershire County Council and Mr Jff Moulding, Chairman of Markfield Parish Council.
